As someone with a business background, genuinely don’t understand some businesses. Really starting to think some just don’t want business. I understand it’s retail and not corporate, but from a business perspective, it’s still interesting. Not from area and was on afternoon run and decided to stop for an item. I actually NEVER shop in beauty supply stores and only shop online because I find the stores quite dreadful, but thought since I was passing store would stop in. Gave it 2 stars because store appears to be relatively clean and quiet, however the guy that works there is insanely hostile. I was in the store for barely 2 minutes as I was on a run, but it was almost as if the guy was trying to intimidate or establish power. Have never seen this individual and was only in store for 2 minutes max. Also, it’s a beauty supply where people go for self care. Weird. 😳 I am very quiet, reserved, and typically in running or business attire, and nothing about my presence presents as belligerent or hostile. Something have noticed about the area is people seem to be bothered by those who are quiet and private. I walked down the aisle to look for hair color and upon returning to front of store, could see the guy standing there with a scowl. I had on ear buds so not even sure what exactly transpired to warrant his behavior. I came back to purchase the item as there were people on line, but upon returning, he was still cowering over me as if I performed some offense. I kindly declined purchasing item as not accustomed to being treated in this manner while shopping and not going to give money to businesses that lacks professionalism and customer service skills. Not from the area and aware it’s not Manhattan or other affluent, suburban areas, but not the sort of treatment I am accustomed to or willing to patronize. Have lived all over the city and many other suburbs and genuinely can’t figure out the culture of area. Appears to be 20+ years behind the rest of the city. Either way, it’s further confirmation to stay away from the area. Weird.
